On Thursday evening, the Niche team made their way to Nationwide Headquarters in Pipers Way to exhibit at Switch on to Swindon‘s biggest event yet. Smoothie bike in tow, the team set up ready for the opening. In 2018, Carriageworks declared that they were putting together a ‘big idea’ that would be unveiled in June 2019. The Tech Swindon Campaign is managed by Switch on to Swindon (SOTS) and has been established to promote and enhance Swindon’s growing digital and technology community. The year-long campaign will culminate with a two-day Summit in Spring 2020 and is due to welcome over 1,000 visitors per day.
The evening included many brilliant speakers, the first being Chair of Switch on to Swindon, Jenny Groves. Jenny opened the event by welcoming everyone and stating that “Swindon is strong, resilient and open for business”, a powerful message, resonating with many. Stuart Williams, Director of Communications at Nationwide talked about what it’s like to work, live and conduct business in Swindon. It was fascinating to find out that in 1974, Nationwide decided to base themselves in Swindon. Why? “Location, labour and links”, Stuart explained. Power of the collective is why Swindon is such a powerful place!
“Swindon is the UK’s 3rd most productive tech sector and has over 2,800 companies in Swindon and Wiltshire delivering digital services“, said Kris Talikowski (Place Board Member and Director at The Core).
With Niche’s proposition including the latest video technology and Emotional intelligence profiling, Directors, Nick Wimshurst and Michelle Graham are proud of being Ambassadors of Switch on to Swindon. The pair are extremely excited to see what the futures for the business in conjunction with TechSwindon.
