There is an entire buffet of reasons why you might be looking for new career prospects. From personal to professional to just plain wanting something new. However, we’ve compiled a list of things you should look out for if you’re starting to feel like you need a change of pace. If you relate, it’s time to pick up the phone and get in touch with us to find something better!
The world has changed since the days of staying in the same role for years on end, hoping in vain for a promotion. If your employee offers no internal career progression despite you being a prime candidate, it would be wise to start looking elsewhere for opportunities. If you approach your line manager and talks of progression are denied or ignored, it could be a sign that your employer would rather keep you in your position for their benefit than encourage your development.
Have the promises that attracted you to the role never materialised or simply faded away? You wouldn’t be alone. Many workers are returning to job boards after their previously remote role suddenly demands their presence in an office that they never signed up for. It’s important to ensure the benefits, perks and promises you were lured in with weren’t just smoke and mirrors, there are plenty of other roles that we recruit for that will deliver on their word!
It’s normal for us to face some bad days and feel a bit stressed with our jobs at some points, however, it’s not normal for your time away from work to be dominated by it. We know more than ever the importance of keeping a healthy work-life balance. If you find yourself in a role where you are constantly stressed, burnt out or just plain irritated by every little process, you should remember that this is not the norm and you can find better options.
Do you find yourself daydreaming of doing something else? We aren’t talking scuba diving off the coast of Costa Rica while platters of fruit are brought to you (we all dream about that). We’re talking more about if you get an overwhelming feeling of relief from handing in your imaginary notice. We don’t just mean on your worst days, if you feel the same no matter what the quality of your day is, it’s a sign to make movements, as what should be a rare occasion has become far too often.
You might enjoy breezing through your day! However, if you’re the kind of person who enjoys a bit of challenge it’s probably time to make some movement towards reaching the next level in your career. Or you could be like the majority of the youngest generation and be longing for a bit more purpose in your role. Start looking at what your ideal roles are looking for, if there is anything glaringly obvious that you don’t have, start setting some personal goals to meet them. Make sure to get in touch if you feel a bit lost with what your next step could look like. We handle a multitude of jobs, after a short conversation with you about your goals we will have a clear idea about what you should be aiming for.
If any of these signs hit home, get in touch. Even if we originally placed you in the role you’re in currently, we would love to help you find your next step so you can start loving your job again.
