How to Identify a Scam and What to Do


At Niche Recruitment, we take your security seriously.

We have been informed of a scam that is using our company name for phishing purposes. These scammers are claiming to be Niche Recruitment Recruiters and are sending messages via WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.


We Would Like to Make our Candidates Aware That Niche Recruitment:


  • We DON’T promote roles offering payment via Cryptocurrency at this stage and have no intentions to.
  • Will NEVER try to contact you via an encrypted service such as WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger.
  • Our recruiters will NEVER try to contact you via an encrypted service such as WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger unless you’re already known to us as a registered candidate.
  • ALL communication will be via email, SMS text or phone call.
  • We will NEVER ask for any personal information via an encrypted service.

Recognising a Scam


Someone you don’t know contacts you unexpectedly. – Niche Recruitment and other recruitment agencies will not contact you out of the blue via text. We will only contact a candidate if you’re already known to us.

The message contains a clickable link- Don’t click or download anything you do not trust. Many scammers will send links to deceptive websites or malware. These are designed to trick you into sharing personal information that they can use.

The offer is exceptionally good- Scammers will attempt to make you an offer you can’t refuse, by suggesting a job role with extremely generous benefits and salaries.

The requesting of personal information- Scams will often ask you for personal information. Such as, PINs or passwords.


An Example of a Scam Message


‘Hello, nice to meet you! I’m Alice from the recruitment agency. What sort of work are you interested in?’

‘We currently have part-time/full-time jobs.

Full-time: £800-£1,5000 per week

Part-time: £50-60 per hour We have positions from entry level to top management

What You Should Do if You Have Received a Suspicious WhatsApp Message for Niche Recruitment


  • DON’T reply to the message
  • DON’T save the number
  • DON’T open any URL links featured within the message
  • DON’T reveal any sensitive or personal information
