In this series, “A Day in the Life,” we delve into the stories of candidates who have found their perfect fit through Niche Recruitment. This time, we had the pleasure of catching up with a Talent Operations Coordinator, currently working a temporary contract for one of our most established clients.
Meet Holly Lafford!
Just a few weeks before starting her job search, Holly’s friend was placed by Niche and suggested she get in touch. We’re so glad she did and recently having had her contract extended, we’re delving deeper into how her day unfolds as Talent Operations Coordinator.
‘I will always start the day with an hour gym session. This really wakes me up and gets me going! Breakfast and a cuppa re essential after this, then I’ll power up the laptop and start the day. I have a day plan which I try to stick to most days, so I start the day with emails and end the day with emails so I can keep on top of my admin.’
‘Making a to-do list! I have to have everything bullet pointed on my notepad before I start so I know where I’m at.’
‘We have a hybrid working model so I only see the team twice a week but when we do get together it’s always great! There’s a good balance between working hard and making sure you have time for a catch up or a natter. No one takes themselves too seriously which is what I love. […] Everyone’s super passionate about their careers and amazing at what they do but can still have a laugh!’
‘Booking in Interviews and logging them all on a tracker.’
‘Without a doubt get my steps in! If I fancy a lie in in the mornings and don’t make it to the gym, I will try and get over there on my break – I’m very lucky that my gym is exactly opposite the office building! No excuses now!’
‘I never work as productively in the afternoon and am more of a power machine in the AM, so I like to the do the more light hearted tasks in the afternoon such as uploading interview notes onto our CRM system.’
‘I like to pre-plan for the next day, so I tend to always look ahead and see what I’ve got coming up. Also making sure my emails are all tidy and we’re ready to start the next day fresh!’
‘I have a German Shorthaired Pointer puppy so relaxing after work isn’t too much of an option in this household! But, when he’s had a good day of exercise and is sleepy himself, I like to put some reality tv on and put my feet up with a nice cup of tea. MAFS is the current binge show much to my Fiancรฉs disgust!’
‘Absolutely. As I said, Tracy was so kind and helpful throughout the whole process of me getting this role and was only ever a text or call away if I needed anything!
And for anyone wondering whether a temp role is for them or not, I say go for it. I think taking this temp role has opened so many doors for me – I knew that starting on a 3 month contract initially was something I always wanted to do as it tests the waters and provides a good idea of the company. I’ve now been extended until the end of December and I’m hoping this will go somewhere in the future, we shall see!’
